My name is Major Edward Jeep. I am the executive officer of HMM-268, a Marine helicopter squadron based at Camp Pendleton, California.
In September, we returned from Iraq, where we were preforming CASEVAC, or Casualty Evacuation, in the Anbar province.
About halfway through our deployment, a huge shipment of coffee came for us. Along with the coffee were huge envelopes stuffed with well wishing comments from literally hundreds of customers of Boca Java.
The coffee was great! At the time, we were so busy that nobody had the time to read all the comments. We were very busy and very tired every day. I saw the comments and took a huge pile home with me. Every day, when I need some scratch paper, I pick up a piece of the paper your electronic comments were written on, and I turn it over and read the comments there. Then, a bit happier and uplifted, I turn it over and begin the work of the day.
We are still busy and will return in late July to Iraq.
I wanted to write to a few of you that left email addresses and tell you how much we appreciated your comments and good wishes. Its great to see.
Thanks for your support. We cant do it without you. I will add that the troops coming home and getting back into the community will need your help just as much as the ones out in the field. We have all lived through some incredible things. Help take care of those guys, injured or whole, by welcoming them and listening to them. They will appreciate it.
